Kwesé Sports launches AFCON5 Football Fantasy League across Africa

Press release, Johannesburg, 26 January - Kwesé Sports, Econet Media’s premium sports content platform, is currently running Kwesé AFCON5, a football fantasy game for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Players create their own fantasy teams of five players for each round, selected from the best footballers from all teams playing at the tournament, with points and a share of cash prizes totalling 5 000 USD awarded to subscribers based on their players’ real world performances throughout the tournament. Points are awarded for goals, assists, appearances, winning matches and for keeping a clean sheet, and are subtracted if players receive yellow or red cards.

In order to be eligible to win, subscribers are required to be resident in Africa, and must score enough points in each round of the group stages, including quarter-finals, semi-finals and final, to achieve a top five position on the round-by-round leaderboard, and enough points cumulatively over the course of the tournamnet to achieve a top three position on the overall leaderboard.

The fantasy game will close at 23h59 (Greenwich Mean Time) on 5 February 2017 and winners will be contacted immediately for their prizes.

Registration for the game is free. To sign up and play, players can visit and register using their Facebook or Google details to create a profile. Selecting teams, countries and challenging friends is all part of the fun in this game.

Kwesé recently wrapped up the first half of a successful Matchday5 Football Fantasy Tournament and AFCON5 will be just as compelling to subscribers. Kwesé’s gaming and fantasy league offering continues to grow across the continent and there are plans to roll out more entertaining and interactive sports engagements such as these as part of Kwesé’s overall business strategy.
