Kwesé TV to exclusively broadcast the heavyweight fight of the year: Anthony Joshua vs. Wladimir Klitschko

27 April 2017: The wait is almost over, the battle lines have been drawn, the opponents are ready to take their positions as the most anticipated heavyweight title fight of the year draws near. This Sunday 29 April, Kwesé TV will bring African viewers exclusive ring side access to the biggest fight in British boxing history for 2017 when Britain’s most exciting heavyweight boxer in recent history with an impressive unbeaten 18 bout record Anthony Joshua, takes on one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time Wladimir Klitschko.

The new African broadcaster has secured exclusive broadcast rights which will enable viewers across the continent to witness its very own son of Nigerian descent potentially relinquish the Ukrainian boxer of his IBF and WBA heavyweight titles.

After having made his debut in the boxing ring in October of 2013 Joshua’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. He will step into the ring with 18 knockout victories under his belt and the confidence to match.

Klitschko has enjoyed an equally impressive career having fought 68 bouts with only 4 losses and numerous heavyweight titles under his belt since he first entered the ring in 1996. This will however be his first fight since he lost to Tyson Fury in November of 2015 and the question on everyone’s lips is whether he is ready to take on the young lion in Joshua?

“We pride ourselves in offering our viewers the best in premium exclusive content. We’re excited to provide exclusive access to this highly anticipated fight which we hope will result in a victory for the continent,” shared President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Econet Media, Joseph Hundah.

“Boxing is one of the continent’s best-loved sports and thanks to our multiplatform offering which includes linear TV, mobile and digital platforms, fight fans all across the continent will enjoy unprecedented access to the biggest boxing event of the year on Kwesé Sports and Kwesé Free Sports.”

In anticipation for the big show down, Kwesé Sports will air an exclusive not-to-be-missed documentary detailing Joshua’s journey to Wembley. The Anthony Joshua Special will air at 07h45 on Thursday 27 April on Kwesé Sports 1 channel 300 on the Kwesé TV bouquet.
